Are you planning to retire from full-time ministry during the next two to ten years? This event will help you make these years a vital, intentional time for culminating your ministry and also a time of exciting preparation for what’s next. This experience will include not only your own preparation for the next stage of your life and ministry, it will also help you work and plan effectively with your congregation in order for you to finish strong and end well.

What else should you know?

This event will begin with lunch on Monday, July 21, and conclude with lunch on Wednesday, July 23. The retreat is at La Casa de Maria in Santa Barbara, CA. Set in a secret garden, guarded by woodlands and the tumbling waters of the San Ysidro Creek, its ambience is that of a much-loved country house through which many generations have passed and left their mark.

Leader: Rev. Dr. Lawrence Peers

Larry Peers is the Director of Learning for the Pastoral Excellence Network. Larry has led this very popular seminar for clergy for ten years. He is a consultant, clergy coach, and seminar leader with long experience providing learning events for the Alban Institute and other organization from many faith traditions. He is particularly devoted to clergy wellness, clergy excellence, and the special opportunities and satisfactions that the final chapters of ministry hold. Larry has served on the adjunct faculty of Hartford Seminary. An ordained minister for over twenty-five years, Larry has served local congregations and worked as a director of congregational growth and research for a denomination’s national office. He has doctorates in congregational studies from Hartford Seminary and organizational change from Pepperdine University.

Cost:

Individual participant single room: program, 2 nights, 7 meals: $525

Individual participant shared double room: program, 2 nights, 7 meals: $475

Individual clergy participant plus accompanying spouse (that is not attending program), program fee for clergy participant, 2 nights shared double room for couple, 7 meals: $800*

*Please note that this program is primarily for clergy who will be crafting their culminating chapter of ministry and participating in the full program. There will be two optional one-hour group sessions for the non-clergy spouses to attend with their clergy partner.
