Willie Sordillo, Administrator of the Pastoral Excellence Network, comes to this work following 11 years serving as Administrative Assistant to the Minister and President of the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ.  For the last of those years, he served additionally as Administrator of the Pastoral Excellence Program of the Massachusetts Conference.  He and his family are members of Edwards Church, UCC in Framingham, MA.

Concurrently, Willie has pursued a career as a professional musician.  He serves as Music Director for a weekly Thursday evening jazz worship service at Old South Church in Boston as well as bringing jazz worship to churches throughout Massachusetts on Sunday mornings.   During the course of a 37 year career he has performed in settings ranging from street corners in Nicaragua to concert halls and music festivals throughout North America, Latin America and beyond.   He has written or arranged music for a number of independent films and the television show, “ER” as well as a number of liturgical pieces intended for congregational singing.   He has recorded extensively and is especially proud to have produced a recording by a group of gay and straight men in support of gender and orientation equality in the late 70’s.   He has performed with or shared the bill with a number of artists including Pete Seeger, Ruben Blades and the jazz singer Kurt Elling.  In addition to leading his own small jazz ensembles and freelancing in the Greater Boston Area, Willie occupies the Maceo Parker chair of a band which backs up a red hot James Brown impersonator.

Willie is committed to uniting with others to create the world Christ has called us to:  a world free of violence and injustice, where all walk together as one in harmony with the earth, in service of each other and our God.
