3333 Landmark Circle, Lincoln NE 68504
Great Plains UMC TiMFor the first two years, the candidates learn from a mentoring pastor and teaching congregation. They then serve three years as a solo pastor. Transition into Ministry (TiM) residents meet monthly with other TiM Associates and meet with a lay committee from the church for encouragement, feedback, and support. In the first two years, the TiM resident meets weekly with senior pastor for support, feedback, and accountability. The goal is to maximize the gifts of the TiM Associate, mentoring pastor, and the local church for excellent pastoral ministry.

Richmond’s First Baptist Church’s Pastoral Residency Program stems from a desire to foster lasting, healthy leadership in new ministers while enriching and strengthening congregational life. The primary purpose of the Pastoral Residency Program is to provide an opportunity for the next generation of vocational ministers to integrate theological education with the practice of ministry within the reflective space of a teaching congregation. This includes growth in intrapersonal and interpersonal awareness, practicing ministry skills, and spiritual practices, pastoral and personal, essential for sustaining effectiveness and longevity in vocational ministry.

Second Presbyterian Church
Lake Fellow in Parish Ministry
Lewis F. Galloway, Senior Pastor (
7700 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260
Second Presbyterian TiM groupThe Lake Fellow Residency Program is two-year, full-time residency program established by a bequest from Tom and Marjorie Lake. It is for seminary graduates who hold particular promise as pastors and wish to develop their ministerial skills under expert supervision in a large church setting. Currently there are four Lake Fellows from a variety of seminaries. Dr. Lewis F. Galloway, the senior pastor, is the director of the program. During the first year, the residents participate in two five-month rotations in mission and pastoral care and in general pastoral duties such as preaching, teaching, visitation, and administration. In the second year, the residents design their own area of inter-disciplinary focus. The program includes weekly seminars with the senior pastor, visiting scholars, and other pastoral mentors. Each resident is also assigned to a neighboring congregation served by a solo pastor. The resident participates in the worship life of this congregation on a monthly basis, learns about ministry in a small- to medium-sized congregation, and preaches in that congregation when invited by that pastor.

Wellesley Village Church, UCC
Pastoral Residency Program
Linda Smith, Program Coordinator (
Sarah Sarchet Butter, Senior Pastor (
2 Central Street, Wellesley, MA 02482
Wellesley Village TiM groupThe primary purpose of our Pastoral Residency Program is to serve the wider church. Our goal is to equip new pastors with the skills and practices needed for a lifetime of faithful and effective ministry. Since launching our Pastoral Residency Program in 2003, our church has called some of the next generation’s most promising pastoral leaders to serve among us full time for two year terms. While they are with us, they gain experience and exercise leadership in every area of our church’s life, preaching and teaching, offering pastoral care, working with our congregational ministries, and often initiating new programs that remain long after they leave us. They do all of this while being surrounded by the attentive support of our congregation and the guidance of seasoned pastoral mentors.

West Ohio Conference, UMC
West Ohio Conference Residency Program
Wade Giffin, Director Office of Ministry (
Amy Aspey, Director of Clergy Leadership (
32 Wesley Boulevard, Worthington, OH 43085
The West Ohio Conference Residency Program is an opportunity for graduates to serve the first two years of post-seminary ministry as resident pastors in local churches. Similar to medical residencies, young leaders grow alongside an experienced pastor who is demonstrating local church leadership skills in a healthy congregation. Residents gain a guided experience in a ministry that is making and equipping disciples who are transforming their community and the world. The program will provide a mentored hands-on environment in a local church where select seminary graduates will develop and hone transformational leadership skills at an accelerated pace. Upon completion of the Residency Program, the resident pastors will then be deployed into local church ministry to engage and impact lives and communities.

Geri McKenzie, Coordinator (
Pastor: George Mason
4316 Abrams Road, Dallas, TX 75214
Wilshire Baptist Church began its residency program in 2002 and is in its fourth year assisting area churches begin their own residency programs. Currently, Wilshire is working with First United Methodist Church in Dallas. Other churches that Wilshire continues to foster relationships with include First Presbyterian Church, Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, and St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, all in Dallas. Residents attend a weekly Homiletics seminar and a monthly Pastoral Seminar. The latter seminar focuses on the life of the minister. As leadership of these seminars rotates among the Senior Pastors in the cohort congregations, residents are exposed to different styles and approaches to pastoral leadership, offering them a variety of mentoring opportunities.
